Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth (NMMU) is a new generation university eager to enter its second decade. As a progressive and dynamic institution geared towards excellence, it aims to expand its reach by placing its future firmly in the digital world.
To implement its ‘smart campus’ vision, NMMU embarked on digital strategy project, for which five top agencies pitched. Stratitude was announced the winning agency and was awarded the account based on their strategic approach and clear deliverables for each phase of the project.
As the South African higher education market becomes increasingly competitive with the impending launch of a Central Application System, NMMU is focused on building an exciting and compelling proposition to prospective students by making optimal use of digital channels.
Lebogang Hashatse, Senior Director Communication & Stakeholder Liaison of NMMU explains: “The university aims to make serious technological advancements to offer to current and prospective students as part of our ‘smart campus’ initiative. Technology plays a key role in a responsive learning environment and NMMU aims to engage actively with students in a digital environment to make studying a collaborative experience.”
“Having a comprehensive, integrated strategy to drive our digital technology and platforms as a communication and engagement channel, recruitment and retention platform, is vital,” continues Hashatse. “Stratitude’s strategic approach to the project, combined with a practical implementation plan, made it a clear choice for us.”
Stratitude has lead the way in several digital campaigns over the past few years. “This project is particularly exciting for us because it confirms that not only have we proven ourselves in the digital space with our digital and content awards, but we are differentiating ourselves with our strategic offering,” says Sylvia Schutte, Managing Director of Stratitude. “NMMU has a clear vision of where it’s going as an institution in a digital world and we are excited to be part of that journey.”
